The Marriage Encounter Journey
Marriage Encounter invites you on a journey… one that will help you improve your knowledge, understanding and acceptance of each other. It can deepen and strengthen your love, leading to a richer, more intimate and joyful life together. Over the course of the Weekend, husbands and wives focus solely on one another, away from their children and away from distractions and tensions of their everyday life.

Who is Marriage Encounter for?
It is for couples of any age. Those who have been married only a few months to couples married over 50 years and it is also for those who have chosen to remarry. It is basically for all husbands and wives who value their marriage and have a desire to make it even better.
Sound Positive?
It is positive! It’s aimed at building and enhancing a relationship, not in tearing it down and starting over. You will discover a refreshing approach to communication that provides an opportunity for growth. Couples have described it as ‘the 48 hours that changed their lives.’

Is the Weekend open to couples of any faith?
Edmonton Anglican Marriage Encounter hosts this Weekend but it is open to couples of all denominations as well as those without a church affiliation or religious perspective. A Common Protestant Outline (CPO) is used throughout the Weekend,  which is applicable to any married husband and wife.

Does the Weekend have a lasting effect
on your journey together?
Marriage Encounter does not end with the Weekend.  The communication tools you acquire can easily be used to continue your growth and further enhance your marriage. If interested, there is also an opportunity to be part of the Marriage Encounter Community, which supports and connects encountered couples.

"Breathing is to the body what communication is to a marriage. Without breath we die; without communication, a marriage dies.”

"The best thing you can do for your children...

is to love your spouse."
